‘Internet Star’ is the second single from rising star, googly eyes. It’s a sparkly, laid-back track that isn’t afraid to retain a subtle and simplistic accompaniment and allow a confidently melodic vocal to take centre stage. In its closing moments, the track opens up to a brief dance-adjacent electronic outburst, which layers pulsing drums against distorted vocals and wobbly synths. On what made her write the track, she explains: “In the age of the algorithm, I think it's easy to find your dreams altered by the demands of an insatiable formula. I forgot why I started making music in the first place and exchanged it for someone else's idea of success.” googly eyes, who is the first official signee to Tove Lowe’s Pretty Swede record label, is releasing her debut EP, Scarlet Sellout, on September 27th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
